Q: Is Montevallo Presbyterian Church inclusive for LGBTQIA+ individuals?
A: Absolutely! MPC is a More Light Congregation, fully welcoming and affirming LGBTQIA+ members in all aspects including leadership. Our church has participated in the Central Alabama Pride Parade every year since 2022 and is actively engaged with Spectrum, the University of Montevallo's LGBTQIA+ organization for students.
Q: How does MPC support and integrate the arts within the community?
A: Art is a vital part of our worship and community life. We incorporate diverse artistic expressions through media, installations, and performances, enriching our worship experience. We actively seek and welcome artists working in all mediums, with a heavy focus on students, LGBTQIA individuals, and people of various racial and ethnic backgrounds. We offer unique opportunities for local artists to showcase their work at our very own Robin Nance Metz Art Gallery, including six annual art exhibits, and integrate their creations into our worship services. Our church provides a nurturing environment for artists to explore their faith through their creative gifts.
Q: How does the church address environmental issues?
A: We are an Earth Care Congregation, actively engaging in initiatives to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability. We are the state's first Earth Care-certified Congregation and have recertified every year since being first certified in 2011.
Q: Will I feel welcomed if I come from a different faith, economic, or ethnic background?

Q: Can I participate in activities if I am not very religious?
A: Yes, everyone is welcome to participate in our activities, regardless of their level of religious commitment or knowledge. We are an inclusive, not exclusive, church, and all are welcome who wish to take part in a loving and affirming community.
Q: How can I get involved in the church's missions?

Simply contact us through our contact form on the website, via Facebook Messenger, or by speaking with a representative of our church, and we will happily communicate with you regarding opportunities to volunteer.
Q: Does the church provide programs for families?
A: Yes, MPC offers a supportive environment with programs and activities designed to benefit families and individuals alike, which includes potluck lunches, serving meals to the homeless, collecting Christmas presents for those who cannot afford gifts, participating in Earth-Care activities (various outdoor activities), and so much more. We are always looking for more ways to engage the community and help provide for those who cannot always provide for themselves.
Q: What makes your worship services meaningful?
A: Our worship services are inclusive, affirming, inspiring, and resonate with progressive values, fostering a deep spiritual connection and fulfillment. We aspire to live our lives as Jesus did, guided by love and affirmation, which is the tone we strive to create with our worship services...heavy on love, light on hellfire and brimstone.
Q: Are open dialogues on social issues encouraged?
A: Yes, MPC encourages open and meaningful dialogue on faith and social issues within a nurturing environment.
Q: Are there activities or special programs for children?
A: Absolutely; in addition to youth-focused spiritual development that is led by our youth spiritual leaders, children's time within our worship service, and participation in communion, we also have various activities throughout the year including Eco-Adventures that are focused on Earth Care education, Bible School, and more.
